How to Apply for Managing Director, Tax Investor Coverage

at Crux Climate

🏢 About Crux Climate

Crux Climate is uniquely positioned at the intersection of climate action and finance, specializing in streamlining tax credit transactions to accelerate clean energy projects. Unlike traditional financial firms, they focus specifically on creating efficient, interconnected markets for sustainable finance, making them a pioneer in a rapidly growing sector. Working here offers the opportunity to directly contribute to scaling clean energy infrastructure while operating in an innovative, mission-driven environment.

About This Role

As Managing Director of Tax Investor Coverage, you'll be responsible for building and owning relationships with tax and finance leaders at Fortune 250 companies to drive tax credit transactions. This role is impactful because you'll directly enable corporations to invest in clean energy projects through tax credit purchases, accelerating Crux's mission while generating significant revenue. You'll serve as both a relationship builder and technical expert, guiding clients through complex transactions from strategy to execution.

💡 A Day in the Life

A typical day might involve conducting outreach to tax leaders at target Fortune 250 companies, preparing for and participating in client meetings to discuss tax credit strategies, and collaborating internally with Crux's transaction team to structure deals. You'd also spend time researching market developments, preparing for speaking engagements at industry conferences, and developing materials to educate potential clients about tax credit opportunities.

🎯 Who Crux Climate Is Looking For

  • Has 14+ years of deep experience specifically in tax credit transactions, tax-advantaged investing, or related fields with demonstrated expertise in technical tax matters
  • Proven ability to build relationships from scratch with corporate tax and finance teams at Fortune 250 companies, with a verifiable track record of closing complex transactions
  • Comfortable with proactive business development including cold outreach, conference networking, and public speaking about technical tax topics
  • Either holds FINRA SIE, Series 79 and 63 licenses or is willing to obtain them quickly under Crux's sponsorship

📝 Tips for Applying to Crux Climate

1

Quantify your experience with tax credit transactions specifically - mention dollar volumes, number of deals, or types of credits (ITC, PTC, etc.) you've worked with

2

Highlight any experience with clean energy or sustainability-focused finance, even if tangential, to show alignment with Crux's mission

3

Demonstrate your ability to build relationships from scratch by describing specific examples of how you developed Fortune 250 client relationships without existing connections

4

Address your FINRA licensing status clearly - either confirm you have the required licenses or express willingness to obtain them under sponsorship

5

Show familiarity with Crux's specific approach by mentioning their focus on streamlining and interconnecting tax credit markets rather than just general sustainable finance
