Managing Director of Research and Evaluation

Core responsibilities:

• Develop Accelerate's research agenda and strategy, collaborating with colleagues and external partners to conduct/manage timely research projects on learning interventions and scaling implementation through policy levers
• Shape study designs for grantees to ensure rigorous evaluation that advances through ESSA evidence tiers and aligns with Accelerate's research agenda
• Lead knowledge sharing efforts including developing conference proposals, authoring reports, facilitating working groups, contributing to communication tools, and engaging in opportunities to influence policy and practice
• Supervise the Director of Research and external research consultants while managing research partnerships and the Research Learning Community

This role creates positive change by turning evidence into measurable progress in public education, helping historically underserved students achieve better outcomes through rigorous research and evaluation that informs policy and practice.

Required qualifications:

• Doctorate degree in sociology, education, psychology, public policy or other relevant area strongly preferred
• 10+ years post doctorate in applied research, preferably in academic, government, or non-profit organization with focus on K-12 education
• Experience as principal investigator in rigorous research projects including randomized controlled trials
• Senior leadership experience in research institution, education non-profit, public school system, or government agency with demonstrated record of convening multiple stakeholders

Compensation and benefits:

• Annual salary range: $150,000 - $210,000
