Major Gifts and Donor Engagement Contractor

Core responsibilities:

• Identify, research, and qualify high-capacity individual prospects for major gifts
• Develop cultivation and stewardship plans for top prospects and conduct donor outreach, meetings, and stewardship
• Work with the board to close gifts and steward donors through thoughtful follow-up
• Open doors to aligned philanthropic individuals and networks to build a major donor pipeline

This role creates positive change by increasing unrestricted revenue to support Just Schools' work ensuring every student in Arizona can learn in safe, inclusive, and affirming schools, particularly for queer and trans students.

Required qualifications:

• 5+ years experience in major gifts or high-net-worth fundraising with a demonstrated track record of closing five-figure and six-figure gifts
• Existing relationships in Arizona, California, or national progressive philanthropic networks preferred
• Comfort fundraising in politically charged environments and strong relationship-building skills to operate independently
• Deep alignment with education justice and anti-racist LGBTQ+ equity

Compensation: $5000 per month for completion of contract deliverables. The contractor is not eligible for employee benefits and is responsible for their own taxes, insurance, equipment, and business expenses. If funding allows, there may be an opportunity to transition into a full-time employee role.
