Long Term Consultant: National Specialist: ISO Accreditation Specialist - ADB LAO Sustainable Agrifood Systems Sector Project

• Identify current knowledge on food microbiology at various laboratories and sampling protocols in industries like slaughterhouses, food processing companies, and water bottling companies.
• Conduct workshops on food microbiology, emphasizing hygiene indicators and safety parameters with reference to Codex and EU standards.
• Introduce and implement ISO standards (e.g., ISO 17604:2015) and guidance notes for microbiological sampling in food chains.
• Evaluate microbiological analysis results, advise on risk categorization, and make recommendations to amend food microbiological regulations relevant to Laos.

This role contributes to food security and nutrition improvement, and increased agricultural value addition in a climate-resilient and gender-responsive manner in Laos, focusing on sustainable agrifood systems.

• M.Sc. in veterinary science, food science, or a medical background.
• Proven hands-on experience implementing ISO 17025-2017 in the food/feed sector and achieving ISO 17025 accreditation for food safety/quality parameters.
• Experience working in Laos, with ADB, or in ASEAN countries (especially Laos, Vietnam, Cambodia) preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint), advanced Excel skills preferred, and strong written/verbal communication skills in English (Thai or Lao language skills preferred).
