Legal Policy Manager

Core responsibilities:

• Support and advance Opportunity Green's policy and advocacy objectives in the aviation sector at EU level
• Help shape and deliver advocacy in the aviation sector, particularly around the EU's Emissions Trading System (aviation ETS) and other key EU aviation legislation
• Translate legal insights into clear, persuasive policy briefings, consultation responses and shared resources for NGOs
• Engage directly with Brussels-based policymakers, EU institutions, NGOs and other partners to influence policy debates

This role creates positive change by making tangible impacts on climate outcomes through strategic policy advocacy and legal analysis focused on aviation decarbonization, helping to address legal and regulatory barriers to ambitious climate action.

Required skills and experience:

• Strong understanding and demonstrated experience of the Brussels policymaking environment
• Strong EU policy knowledge and experience, with at least some experience with the Emissions Trading System (ETS), ideally including aviation ETS
• A legal background indicated by a law degree, qualification or equivalent professional experience
• Ability to understand and strategize around high-quality legal analysis and write reports and policy briefs with excellent attention to detail

Compensation and benefits:

• Annual salary of €60,000 (€4,310.34 per month)
• 8% employer-contributed pension
• 4-day work week (Monday-Thursday, 28 hours)
