Legal Officer

Core responsibilities:

• Support the implementation of strategic legal actions in the UK, EU and internationally
• Work closely with Legal Managers to develop and implement legal actions with systemic impact
• Undertake legal research, draft legal briefings and analyses, and support court and regulatory actions
• Work with external partners including other NGOs and external counsel, and represent Opportunity Green in external meetings

This role creates positive change by using legal actions to drive decarbonization in key demand-side sectors such as aviation, shipping, agriculture, finance, steel and medium-heavy duty vehicles, helping to fight climate change through strategic legal interventions.

Required qualifications:

• A law degree or equivalent experience, and knowledge of climate/environmental law
• Relevant working experience with transferable legal skills (not an entry-level role)
• Passion for using legal skills to tackle climate change with law as a lever for systemic change
• Ability to write high-quality legal analysis and reports with excellent attention to detail
