How to Apply for Lead - Finance

at Global Resilient Cities Network

🏢 About Global Resilient Cities Network

The Resilient Cities Network (R-Cities) is a unique global organization that partners with over 100 cities across 40+ countries to tackle climate resilience, equity, and sustainability. Working here means contributing to impactful, on-the-ground solutions for urban challenges, with a collaborative and mission-driven culture that spans multiple continents.

About This Role

As the Lead - Finance, you will own the financial strategy and operations for R-Cities' global entities, transitioning from external providers to a robust in-house finance function. This role is critical in ensuring compliance across grants and jurisdictions, while also building and leading a small finance team to support the organization's mission-driven work.

💡 A Day in the Life

A typical day might start with reviewing global cash positions and approving grant expenditures, followed by a check-in with the Manager - Finance & Accounting on month-end close. You might spend part of the day in a virtual meeting with program leads to align budgets on a new resilience initiative, and later dive into compliance reports for a Dutch foundation grant. The role blends strategic planning, hands-on oversight, and team mentorship across time zones.

  • Comfortable operating across multiple legal entities and jurisdictions, with familiarity in US and/or Dutch nonprofit regulatory environments.
