How to Apply for Lead Coach

at WAN-IFRA

🏢 About WAN-IFRA

Women in News (WIN) is a global programme of WAN-IFRA dedicated to advancing gender equality in media through leadership development, research, and advocacy. Working across Africa, the Arab Region, Southeast Asia, and Europe, WIN offers a unique opportunity to drive systemic change in media leadership and make a tangible impact on gender parity worldwide.

About This Role

As Lead Coach, you will design and oversee the coaching framework for WIN's Global Leadership Accelerator, matching coaches with participants and ensuring high-quality coaching delivery. This role is pivotal in shaping the leadership journey of women journalists and media professionals, directly contributing to a more inclusive and equitable media landscape.

💡 A Day in the Life

Your day might start with a virtual check-in with programme leadership to review coach-participant matches, followed by reviewing coaching session reports from multiple regions. You could then facilitate a peer supervision call for coaches, spend the afternoon updating the coaching curriculum with new reflective exercises, and end the day by onboarding a new coach from Southeast Asia.

🎯 Who WAN-IFRA Is Looking For

  • A certified professional coach (e.g., ICF, EMCC) with at least 5 years of experience in leadership, executive, or career coaching, preferably in global or cross-cultural settings.
  • Proven experience managing or supervising a diverse team of coaches, including onboarding, mentorship, and quality assurance.
  • Expertise in designing coaching curricula and tools, with a strong understanding of adult learning theories, emotional intelligence, and reflective practice.
  • Deep commitment to gender equality and familiarity with the challenges women face in media leadership, with the ability to adapt coaching approaches to diverse cultural contexts.

📝 Tips for Applying to WAN-IFRA

1

Highlight your certification and any supervision training explicitly, as the role requires managing and mentoring other coaches.

2

Showcase examples of coaching curricula or tools you have designed, especially those adaptable to different regions (e.g., Africa, Middle East).

3

Demonstrate your experience with remote coaching and managing virtual coaching programmes, as this is a fully remote contract role.

4

Tailor your cover letter to emphasize your understanding of gender dynamics in media and how your coaching advances women's leadership.

5

Include metrics or outcomes from past coaching programmes, such as participant satisfaction, promotion rates, or leadership competency improvements.

✉️ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter

["Your passion for gender equality and how your coaching aligns with WIN's mission to strengthen women's leadership in media.", 'Specific examples of how you have designed and managed coaching programmes across diverse cultural contexts.', 'Your approach to mentoring other coaches, including supervision and quality assurance methods.', 'How your coaching philosophy incorporates emotional intelligence, reflective practice, and leadership development frameworks.']
