Lead Cloud Engineer

Core responsibilities:

• Collaborate with a cross-functional team of engineers building web and mobile applications, cloud backends, and data pipelines.
• Lead end-to-end technical delivery—from architecture and design to implementation, testing, deployment, and operations.
• Collaborate with product and design teams to deliver intuitive and performant user experiences.
• Champion modern software development practices, including CI/CD, IaC, observability, and test automation.

This role helps build systems that support Mill's mission to prevent waste, particularly food waste, which is described as one of the most solvable climate problems, contributing to a better environment and climate change mitigation.

Required qualifications:

• 6+ years as a cloud (services) engineer / backend engineer.
• Strong API design experience, and an understanding of building asynchronous systems and error handling.
• Hands-on experience with AWS (AWS IoT is a plus).
• Strong background in Python.

The estimated base salary range for this position is $185k to $225k, which does not include the value of benefits or a potential equity grant. Compensation decisions consider skill sets, market conditions, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and business and organizational needs.
