Lead Backend Engineer - Low Carbon Tech (LCT)

This role directly enables the scaling of low carbon technologies (EV chargers, solar, batteries, heat pumps) in homes, accelerating the energy transition and reducing carbon emissions.

• 5+ years experience of robust backend development with deep expertise in systems design, database optimisation (PostgreSQL/MySQL), and cloud execution.
• Leadership potential and a sincere enthusiasm for supporting a team, guiding others, and shaping a collaborative team culture.
• Excited by the possibilities of integrating AI tools into your workflow to iterate quickly, combined with the discipline to rigorously check and ensure code quality.
• Clear communication skills, with a proven ability to translate complex technical constraints and architectural risks cleanly to non-technical stakeholders.
