Necko Student Worker

• Improve Firefox’s web browsing experience with a focus on the networking stack and network-related APIs like Fetch and WebTransport.
• Design and implement new web platform features and networking protocols in collaboration with standards communities.
• Debug and fix correctness and performance problems in a multi-threaded codebase.
• Improve Firefox’s stability and correctness.

This role directly contributes to making the internet more performant, secure, and private for millions of Firefox users, advancing Mozilla's mission to create a healthier, happier online experience for everyone.

• Experience with programming in Rust and/or C/C++ and familiarity with memory safety, test-driven development, data analysis, and secure software development practices.
• Fluent in English and comfortable conducting software engineering work in the open.
• Previous experience with networking and/or systems programming is a bonus.
• Enrolled in a university in Germany and willing to occasionally visit the Berlin office.

Hourly rate: €28,00 EUR per hour. Mentorship from experienced engineers, opportunity to impact widely-used open-source software, and a collaborative culture focused on privacy and innovation.
