Mission
What you will drive
- Work in one of FAR.AI's research workstreams, developing scalable implementations of machine learning algorithms and using them to run scientific experiments
- Contribute to all aspects of research projects including shaping research direction, analyzing experimental results, and participating in write-ups for peer-reviewed venues
- Collaborate with researchers from different academic labs and research institutions
- Develop research skills through mentorship, code reviews, and self-directed study of machine learning and AI safety

Profile
What makes you a great fit
- Significant software engineering experience or experience applying machine learning methods (evidenced by prior work, open-source contributions, or publications)
- Experience with at least one object-oriented programming language (preferably Python)
- Results-oriented and motivated by impactful research
- Preferred experience with ML frameworks (PyTorch/TensorFlow), NLP/reinforcement learning, distributed systems, publications/open-source contributions, or mathematical foundations
Benefits
What's in it for you
Compensation: $100,000-$190,000/year depending on experience and location. Additional benefits include payment for work-related travel and equipment expenses, and catered lunch and dinner at Berkeley offices.
