How to Apply for in - Sustainability Consulting @ Climate Tech Start-up (m/w/d) - 100% Remote möglich

at Global Changer

🏢 About Global Changer

Global Changer is a climate tech startup offering an efficient platform that guides B2B companies to swift Net-Zero emissions with automated data solutions. Unlike traditional consultancies, they combine software automation with strategic advisory, enabling scalable impact. Working here means being at the forefront of digital carbon management, shaping solutions that help businesses decarbonize faster.

About This Role

This role is a unique blend of team leadership, client management, and product development. You will define processes and build the team while independently managing key accounts on carbon management (CCF, PCF, Net-Zero). Additionally, you'll co-design the software and validate results, directly influencing how the platform evolves to meet client needs.

💡 A Day in the Life

Your day might start with a client check-in to review their carbon data progress, followed by a team stand-up to align on process improvements. Afternoon could involve validating a new software feature for Scope 3 calculations and preparing a strategic roadmap for a key account, all while collaborating remotely with product and engineering teams.

🎯 Who Global Changer Is Looking For

  • You have at least 3 years of hands-on experience in sustainability consulting or corporate sustainability, specifically with Carbon Footprint (CCF/PCF) and Net-Zero strategies.
  • You have led a team for at least 1 year and are comfortable defining processes, delegating, and fostering a collaborative culture.
  • You are fluent in German (C2) and English (C1) and can communicate complex sustainability topics clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • You bring a hands-on mentality, strong project management skills, and a genuine passion for climate tech—you're not just a consultant but also a builder.

📝 Tips for Applying to Global Changer

1

Tailor your CV to highlight specific CCF/PCF projects you led, including the methodologies used (e.g., GHG Protocol, ISO 14064) and the outcomes achieved.

2

In your cover letter, mention your experience with team building or process definition—give concrete examples of how you've improved workflows or onboarded new team members.

3

Show that you understand the startup environment: emphasize your adaptability, willingness to wear multiple hats, and comfort with ambiguity.

4

Demonstrate your familiarity with carbon management software tools (e.g., Plan A, Carbon Trust, or similar) and how you've used data to drive client decisions.

5

Since the role is remote, highlight your experience with virtual team collaboration and client management across time zones.

✉️ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter

['Your passion for climate tech and desire to work in a startup where you can directly shape the product and processes.', 'Specific examples of leading CCF/PCF projects for large clients, including challenges and how you ensured data accuracy.', 'Your experience in team management and process design, especially in a fast-paced or scaling environment.', 'How your German and English language skills enable you to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.']

2 How would you approach defining processes for a new consulting team? Walk us through your methodology.
3 How do you stay updated on carbon accounting standards (e.g., GHG Protocol updates, SBTi)?
4 Tell us about a project where you had to balance client demands with product development constraints. How did you handle it?

⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Don't submit a generic application—failing to mention carbon management or team leadership experience will make you seem unfocused.
  • Avoid being too theoretical; this startup wants hands-on doers. Provide concrete examples of projects you've executed, not just concepts.
  • Don't underestimate the importance of language skills—if your German is not fluent (C2), your application may be rejected immediately.
