Impact & Sustainability Lead (12 month maternity cover)

• Build and maintain a full picture of Notpla's environmental impact across product range through LCA portfolio management, GHG/carbon accounting, hotspot analysis, and end-of-life projects; own the annual Impact Report.
• Lead Notpla's engagement in policy and advocacy, including the Natural Polymers Group, consultations, and roundtables (Defra, EU Commission), monitoring EPR, PPWR, SUP Directive, and plastic packaging tax.
• Translate complex impact work into clear messaging for internal teams, clients, suppliers, and industry; support marketing with content and visuals.
• Support Sales, BD, and product teams with impact evidence, client sustainability queries, and R&D decisions; represent Notpla externally with government bodies and industry groups.

This role directly contributes to reducing plastic pollution by advancing sustainable packaging solutions from seaweed and plants, and by shaping policy and industry standards for a circular economy.

• Experience in a sustainability role within packaging or food services, with exposure to supply chain, certifications, or impact reporting.
• Experience in a start-up or innovation environment in a relevant field (e.g., material science, bio-based materials).
• Experience working directly on packaging or circular economy policy in the UK or EU (EPR, plastic packaging tax, PPWR, SUP Directive).
