The Position:
Under the direct supervision of the) IT specialist of the UNFPA Asia-Pacific Regional Office (APRO) and under the guidance of the d ICT Associate at APRO, the Intern will support the APRO's ICT team in maintaining a secure, reliable, and efficient ICT environment. They will provide first-level technical support to personnel, assist with the lifecycle management of ICT assets, and help ensure compliance with UNFPA's Information Security policies and procedures.
A work-plan with achievements for the duration of the Internship and learning opportunities will be agreed upon. Periodic progress meetings will lead to a beneficial environment for the Intern enhancing her/his skills and capacity in areas related to UNFPA's mandate.

You would be responsible for:
Provide first-level support to personnel regarding basic connectivity, hardware, and software issues, including Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs), Zoom, and printing.
A. User Support and Service Desk
Assist the ICT Focal Point in maintaining an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all ICT devices (laptops, desktops, tablets, and mobile phones) and ensure they are correctly tagged.

Assist in the setup and configuration of official laptops (Windows and macOS) for staff, ensuring they adhere to the "standard configuration" which includes installing Google Credential Provider for Windows (GCPW) and the Endpoint Verification extension.

Guide users on how to utilize the Global Service Desk (GSD) for submitting tickets regarding account access, group requests, or complex technical issues. -
Assist with setting up ICT equipment for meetings and conferences, including video conferencing units and audio-visual systems.Assist the Directory Focal Point in verifying that office directory data is accurate, including phone numbers and office location details.
B. ICT Asset Management Support
Assist in promoting information security awareness among personnel.

Support the device disposal process by assisting with data sanitization (secure erasure of data) of end-of-life devices before they are recycled or disposed of, ensuring compliance with environmental and security standards.

Assist in organizing secure storage for ICT equipment and accessories. -
Assist with the installation and basic configuration of office connectivity and collaboration infrastructure equipment, including meeting room and workspace systems.C. Application and Data Maintenance
Data Security: The intern must not share passwords, must use Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and must safeguard all UNFPA data.

Support Group Managers in reviewing Google Group memberships to be up-to-date and accurate.

Assist users with basic navigation and usage of corporate applications such as Quantum (ERP) and DocuSign/Google E-Signature.D. Information Security and Compliance
Be enrolled in a first university degree programme (such as bachelor's degree or equivalent) and have completed one full academic year;
Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with Windows 10/11 and macOS configuration.
Languages: Fluency in English. Knowledge of other languages is an asset. Competencies: Strong service orientation and problem-solving skills.

Verify that office devices have required security measures active, such as Checkpoint Endpoint Security and automatic OS updates.

Qualifications and Experience:
Applicants to UNFPA's internship programme must at the time of application meet one of the following requirements in the field of Bachelor's or Master's program in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field.

Be enrolled in a postgraduate degree programme (such as master's programme or higher);

Have recently graduated with a university degree as defined above and, if selected, must start the internship within one-year of graduation; or -
Be enrolled in a postgraduate professional trainee programme and undertake the internship as part of this programme. -
Proficiency with Google Workspace (Gmail, Drive, Docs, Sheets). -
Basic knowledge of networking (Wi-Fi, LAN) and hardware troubleshooting. -
Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users. -
Integrity and ability to handle confidential information with discretion. -
