Mission

What you will drive

Core responsibilities:

  • Support the California Policy Advocacy Team (70%) by working with California policy staff to implement OBBBA and track developments at federal and state levels, liaising between the Hub and California Policy Advocacy Area, monitoring information shared by the Special Project Attorney, tracking California OBBBA implementation, analyzing information to identify policy solutions, coordinating with national and California partners, providing technical assistance and education, and conducting trainings and presentations.
  • Research, Analysis, and Writing (20%) by researching and analyzing federal and state Medicaid policies and administrative guidance, tracking federal and state policy developments, and developing and coordinating publications about California OBBBA-related content.
  • Administrative and Other Responsibilities (10%) including writing grant reports, participating in internal meetings and working groups, and collaborating with development, communication, and operations teams.

This role creates positive change by protecting and expanding access to quality, equitable health care for all people in California, specifically minimizing harms from OBBBA to ensure as many Californians as possible maintain access to Medi-Cal or other insurance affordability programs, and supporting advocates to mitigate harms on low-income individuals and families accessing Medicaid.

Required qualifications and skills:

  • Master's in Public Health Administration or equivalent degree.
  • Three (3) years of policy experience.
  • Knowledge of health policy, regulatory and administrative advocacy, Medicaid/Medi-Cal and the Affordable Care Act.
  • Strong research, writing, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to the representation of low-income and underserved populations and understanding of racial inequity issues.
