Head of external affairs - Africa Regional Office

Core responsibilities:

• Lead strategic external engagement and partnership development in Rwanda and Africa to identify and advance business opportunities aligned with IVI's mission
• Design and implement communication strategy for the Africa Regional Office, ensuring consistency with IVI's overall strategic direction
• Contribute to grant proposal development with new partners in Africa and lead or manage selected grants as principal investigator when relevant
• Provide high-level strategic and operational support to the IARO Head and assist in developing and executing African office strategy

This role enhances IVI's institutional presence in Africa to advance vaccine development and global health initiatives, contributing to improved public health outcomes across the continent through strategic partnerships and communication.

Required qualifications:

• Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Diplomacy, International Relations, Development Studies, Political Science, Public Administration, or relevant social science/management field
• 15+ years experience in global health or vaccine-related scientific fields in PDP, Biotech, Big Pharma, leading University or Global Health Donor
• 7+ years of people management experience
• Good knowledge of Rwandan/African academic, Pharma/Biotech companies, and funding vaccine ecosystem
• Track record of success in generating funds from public or private sector donors
• Fluency in English; knowledge of French is a plus
