Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate, and manage the Grounds and Woodland Team, including workforce planning, training, and upskilling while actively undertaking practical work such as tree planting, grounds maintenance, and woodland management.
- Plan and manage woodland and land management activities including tree planting, pruning, silvicultural management, grass-cutting operations, and wildflower meadow management.
- Ensure the team provides a welcoming, professional experience for families, volunteers, and visitors during tree dedications and site events while supporting staff in communicating the charity's mission.
- Plan and manage weekly, monthly, and seasonal work schedules, monitor stock levels, liaise with contractors, and provide updates to management on team performance and project progress.

Required skills and experience:
- Experience leading or mentoring a small team with the ability to guide practical works and support staff development.
- Experience or knowledge of working on land-based activities, managing woodland, or related fields including tree planting, pruning, and groundskeeping machinery.
- Full, clean manual driving license with confidence driving a medium wheelbase, high-roof van and towing a trailer (training available).
- Fully conversant with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Teams), ability to work autonomously and as part of a team, and awareness of health and safety requirements.
Benefits
What's in it for you
Salary: £30,000 – £32,000 per annum (dependent on experience). Working hours: Full-time – 40 hours per week with flexible schedule, 5–7 days including occasional weekends.
