Grant Writer (Part-time Contract)

Core responsibilities:

• Draft and revise high-quality LOIs, proposals, and grant reports (approximately 25-30 per calendar year)
• Tailor tone and style to different funders and contexts, translating complex program information into clear, compelling narrative
• Consolidate inputs from CDI staff into coherent and compelling drafts, working from templates and style guides with minimal oversight
• Review and strengthen budget narratives for clarity and alignment with proposal content

This role supports CDI's foundation and institutional fundraising efforts, enabling the organization to expand its evidence-based programs that equip Americans with skills to communicate and collaborate across lines of difference.

Required skills and qualifications:

• Exceptional writing skills with precision and adaptability for politically nuanced subject matter
• Experience drafting and revising LOIs, proposals, and grant reports for foundations and institutions
• Ability to synthesize inputs from multiple staff members into coherent drafts
• Comfort working with templates, style guides, and past examples with minimal oversight

This is a part-time contract position with potential for long-term working relationship and opportunities to take on additional writing projects over time, including non-fundraising work.
