Mission

What you will drive

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the full lifecycle of institutional grants, including prospect research, letters of intent, proposals, renewals, interim and final reports
  • Serve as the primary point person for grant development, coordinating inputs across departments and managing internal deadlines
  • Develop clear, persuasive narratives that reflect Al Otro Lado's legal advocacy, humanitarian programming, and systems-change work
  • Assist the Grants Manager in maintaining and managing the grants calendar to track deadlines, reporting requirements, and follow-ups
  • Research and identify funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities using grant databases, funder communications, and professional networks
  • Support funder compliance, reporting accuracy, and internal documentation

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience successfully writing and managing multiple grant proposals and reports simultaneously
  • Strong alignment with social justice values and experience working with immigrant, refugee, or asylum-seeking communities
  • Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment, with strong judgment, follow-through, and attention to detail
  • Excellent writing, interpersonal, and cross-departmental communication skills
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving nonprofit environment
  • Per AOL's contractual agreements, all employees must undergo a background check because of our work with migrant children

Preferred (but not required):

  • Experience with institutional funders supporting legal services, immigration, or humanitarian work
  • Familiarity with multi-year grants and complex reporting requirements
