Mission
What you will drive
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the full lifecycle of institutional grants, including prospect research, letters of intent, proposals, renewals, interim and final reports
- Serve as the primary point person for grant development, coordinating inputs across departments and managing internal deadlines
- Develop clear, persuasive narratives that reflect Al Otro Lado's legal advocacy, humanitarian programming, and systems-change work
- Assist the Grants Manager in maintaining and managing the grants calendar to track deadlines, reporting requirements, and follow-ups
- Research and identify funding opportunities aligned with organizational priorities using grant databases, funder communications, and professional networks
- Support funder compliance, reporting accuracy, and internal documentation

Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience successfully writing and managing multiple grant proposals and reports simultaneously
- Strong alignment with social justice values and experience working with immigrant, refugee, or asylum-seeking communities
- Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment, with strong judgment, follow-through, and attention to detail
- Excellent writing, interpersonal, and cross-departmental communication skills
- Strong project management and organizational skills
- Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving nonprofit environment
- Per AOL's contractual agreements, all employees must undergo a background check because of our work with migrant children
Preferred (but not required):
- Experience with institutional funders supporting legal services, immigration, or humanitarian work
- Familiarity with multi-year grants and complex reporting requirements
