Through innovative partnerships, book and claim systems, novel procurement approaches, and demand-aggregating alliances, we help provide credible pathways to tackle our toughest climate challenges. 

 

Our internship program offers motivated graduate students and recent graduates the chance to gain hands-on experience in climate solutions while working alongside a dynamic and innovative team (non-traditional applicants are accepted for non-programmatic roles). Interns play a meaningful role in advancing projects that shape the future of decarbonization.

Who We’re Looking For 

We seek interns who are passionate about addressing the climate crisis, eager to learn, and ready to contribute to real-world solutions. Strong communication, research, and collaboration skills are a plus. 

Seasonal intern opportunities 

Internships have the potential for extension. 

• Summer Internships: Jun–Aug | Up to 40 hours/week, depending on role  

• Fall Internships: Sept–Dec | 10–20 hours/week  
• Winter/Spring Internships: Jan–May | 10–20 hours/week  
 

Work Requirements:  

  • Must have a dedicated workspace to accommodate 100% remote environment with quality internet that supports video calls and O365  

  • Must reside in approved U.S. states (CA, CO, CT, DC, GA, MA, MD, MN, NH, NJ, NY, TX, WA)  

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.  

  • Must have a working laptop that can access O365 email and files through a browser and support video calls

SABA Program Intern 

Focuses on accelerating the uptake of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) certificates through supporting one of SABA’s procurement tracks.
 

  • Responsibilities include supporting procurement design, demand generation (including buyer outreach and creation of promotional materials), supplier engagement, assisting with bid review and RFP logistics, and procurement platform management. 

  • Required skills include a relevant degree (e.g., engineering, environmental science, economics, policy), commitment to climate, strong communication skills, attention to detail, and an interest in clean fuels and book and claim. Preferred skills include GHG Protocol knowledge, corporate GHG inventories, Scope 3 emissions accounting, and experience with EACs/registries, procurement/RFPs, or stakeholder processes. 

 

Trucking Program Intern 

  •  Focuses on accelerating decarbonization of the trucking sector by driving investment in and adoption of zero-emission (ZE) heavy-duty vehicles. 

  •  Responsibilities include preparing communications, managing stakeholder relationships, analyzing RFP bids, modeling total cost of ownership, and researching transportation policies. 

  •  Required skills include a degree relevant to the program, commitment to climate, strong communication skills, and an interest in GHG accounting. Preferred skills include transportation/logistics experience, GHG Protocol knowledge, Scope 3 emissions accounting, and experience with EACs or procurement. 

Cement and Concrete Program Intern 

  • Involves a partnership with RMI to decarbonize cement and concrete emissions through a standardized book-and-claim system and demand aggregation via a buyers' alliance. 

  • Responsibilities include research and analysis on  market trends, supporting procurement of EACs (assisting with bid review), buyer engagement (including drafting meeting materials and promotional materials), and assisting with supplier engagement. 

  • Required skills include a relevant degree (e.g., engineering, sustainable design, environmental science, finance, policy), climate commitment, strong communication skills, and an interest in GHG accounting. Preferred skills include GHG Protocol knowledge, corporate GHG inventories, Scope 3 emissions accounting, procurement experience, and experience with book and claim or stakeholder processes. 

Chemicals Program Intern 

  • Focuses on establishing decarbonization strategies for the chemicals industry, partnering with RMI on petrochemical-derived plastics and ammonia-based fertilizers. 

  • Responsibilities include primary and secondary research on chemical production processes and climate solutions, developing a framework book-and-claim system, drafting communications, and managing stakeholder recruitment. 

  • Required skills include a relevant degree (e.g., chemical engineering, environmental science), climate commitment, strong communication skills, and an interest in technical sustainability topics. Preferred skills include GHG Protocol knowledge, corporate GHG inventories, Scope 3 emissions accounting, and experience with EACs or stakeholder processes. 

AIM Platform (Standard and Guidance) Intern 

  • Works with Gold Standard and C2ES to develop a credible approach to accounting, reporting, and claiming value chain-aligned mitigation activities not currently in GHG Protocol-aligned Scope 3 inventories. 

  • Responsibilities include summarizing stakeholder feedback, drafting technical content for the AIM Platform Standard and Guidance, researching carbon accounting, preparing presentations, and managing pilot testing. 

  • Required skills include a relevant degree (e.g., economics, policy), climate commitment, strong communication skills, and an interest in GHG accounting. Preferred skills include GHG Protocol knowledge, corporate GHG inventories, Scope 3 emissions accounting, and experience with EACs or stakeholder processes. 
     

Communications & Marketing Intern 

  • Works with the Communications Manager and program teams, with flexibility based on expertise. 

  • Responsibilities for summer internships will focus on graphic design for social media, events, and digital platforms with additional responsibilities to include events preparation, research projects, short form editorial content development, email campaign support, and database management. Candidates are expected to have experience with at least 50% of these responsibilities with a strong preference for graphic design skills and experience. 

  • Required skills include at least three years of progress towards a relevant degree (e.g., Communications/Public Relations, Marketing, Graphic Design or other creative discipline), climate commitment, strong writing and oral communications skills, and a collaborative self-starter attitude.
