How to Apply for Global Content & Engagement Manager

at New Energy Nexus

🏢 About New Energy Nexus

New Energy Nexus is a unique international NGO laser-focused on supporting clean energy entrepreneurs worldwide. With a track record of leveraging $5.4 billion in investment and supporting over 11,000 entrepreneurs, NEX offers a chance to work at the intersection of climate action and storytelling, directly amplifying the most promising climate solutions across global markets.

About This Role

This role puts you in the driver's seat of NEX's global digital channels, including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and email, with strategic ownership over editorial direction and audience growth. You'll craft and produce stories of clean energy entrepreneurs, collaborating with chapter teams to surface impactful content, while working alongside a Marketing Manager and Design Strategist to scale engagement and conversion.

💡 A Day in the Life

A typical day might start by reviewing analytics from the previous day's social posts and email sends, then drafting a LinkedIn story about a Kenyan solar entrepreneur with input from the Africa chapter lead. After a midday sync with the Marketing Manager on an upcoming campaign, you'd edit a video interview for YouTube, and end the day by planning the weekly content calendar with the Design Strategist.

🎯 Who New Energy Nexus Is Looking For

  • A hands-on content strategist with proven experience managing and growing B2B/B2C digital channels (LinkedIn, Instagram, YouTube, email) for mission-driven organizations, preferably in climate, energy, or international development.
  • Exceptional storyteller with a knack for translating complex clean energy innovations into compelling narratives that resonate across diverse global audiences (e.g., entrepreneurs, investors, policy makers).
  • Data-driven and analytical, able to use metrics to optimize content performance, increase engagement, and improve conversion rates (e.g., email sign-ups, event registrations).
  • Collaborative and culturally aware, with experience working across time zones and with teams in China, India, Africa, Southeast Asia, and Australia, and comfortable giving and receiving feedback with a global CCO.

📝 Tips for Applying to New Energy Nexus

1

Tailor your resume to highlight specific metrics from past channel management (e.g., grew LinkedIn followers by X%, increased email open rates by Y%).

2

In your cover letter, mention a specific clean energy entrepreneur story that resonated with you and how you would amplify it across NEX's channels.

3

Show your global mindset: reference experience working with multicultural teams or audiences, especially in regions where NEX operates.

4

Include a brief portfolio or examples of content you've created (e.g., a LinkedIn post, email newsletter, or video script) that drove engagement.

5

Emphasize your ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution, as this is an individual contributor role with strategic ownership.

✉️ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter

['Express passion for climate solutions and clean energy entrepreneurship, and how your skills can help NEX tell those stories effectively.', 'Demonstrate your experience owning a content strategy across multiple channels, with concrete examples of growth and engagement.', 'Highlight your ability to collaborate across geographies and cultures, and your comfort working in a remote, global team.', "Show that you understand NEX's audience (entrepreneurs) and can create content that inspires action and supports their ecosystem."]

  • Look up recent press coverage or blog posts about NEX's work in specific regions (e.g., India, West Africa) to understand their storytelling style.
  • Review the profiles of a few entrepreneurs they've supported to get a feel for the stories you'd be telling.

💬 Prepare for These Interview Topics

Based on this role, you may be asked about:

1 How would you approach growing LinkedIn engagement for a global NGO with limited budget? Walk us through your strategy.
2 Describe a time you turned a complex technical topic into a compelling story for a non-technical audience. What was the outcome?
3 How do you prioritize content across multiple channels (e.g., Instagram vs. LinkedIn) for a global audience?
4 What metrics do you use to measure success for email campaigns, and how do you optimize for conversion?
5 How would you work with chapter teams in different regions to surface and localize content while maintaining a consistent global voice?

⚠️ Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • Submitting a generic cover letter that doesn't mention clean energy or NEX's specific mission and global focus.
  • Focusing only on creative writing without demonstrating data-driven results or channel growth metrics.
