Geo-Chemical Scientist

Core responsibilities:

• Support permanent carbon sequestration via subsurface injection as a member of the Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) team
• Understand how chemically complex, evolving bio-oils and other injectates behave under subsurface conditions and how their interactions with reservoir rocks, brines, and gases affect material injectivity and stability over time
• Characterize and manage aging, polymerization, and phase evolution processes of bio-oils in the context of geologic storage
• Leverage chemistry and analytical understanding of fluid behaviors across Charm's portfolio of injectates to solve for key business outcomes around injectivity improvements and subsurface uncertainty

This role directly contributes to permanent carbon sequestration and carbon removal impact by improving injectivity and reducing subsurface uncertainty for Charm's carbon storage operations.

Required qualifications:

• Chemist, Geochemist, or Petroleum Chemist background
• Ability to leverage chemistry and analytical understanding of fluid behaviors
• Experience with chemically complex fluids and subsurface conditions
• Understanding of bio-oils, oxygenated organics, reactive functional groups, and phase evolution processes
