Mission

What you will drive

  • Lead the organization's legal function, providing legal services across transactional agreements, employment law, corporate governance, tax compliance, government funding compliance, intellectual property, lobbying disclosure, corporate sponsorship, and charitable solicitation regulation.
  • Serve as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, directing all aspects of legal services for a national nonprofit and affiliated organizations, including a 501(c)(4) and PAC.
  • Advise the People and Culture Department on employment policies, benefits, insurance, and personnel matters; staff the Board Litigation Committee and serve as Board Assistant Secretary.
  • Oversee a legal department of four and two to four summer law clerks, reporting to the Senior Vice President for Business Strategy & Operations.

Profile

What makes you a great fit

  • J.D. and at least 15 years of successful legal practice experience; bar admission and good standing in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • Prior experience as a senior attorney, preferably including General Counsel experience, with a broad legal portfolio and staff management responsibilities.
  • Experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating transactional agreements; knowledge of labor and employment law, OMB Guidance for Federal Financial Assistance, intellectual property, and charitable solicitation laws.
  • Experience overseeing organizational risk assessment and management, cost-effective management of outside legal resources, and working knowledge of federal tax and election laws for 501(c)(3), 501(c)(4), and Section 527 organizations.
