What you will drive
In short
What: Full-stack software developer and train nerd.
Company: chuuchuu.com, small startup, this would be our first hire.
Where: Fully remote within Europe.
When: Hopefully starting June, maybe later. See below.
The job
We are looking for a full-stack software developer to help us develop chuuchuu at all parts of our stack:
Data collection pipelines (written in Typescript and SQL)
Backend and API (written in Typescript)
Web and Android app (Solid.js)
iOS app (currently in Swift, will become a hybrid of web+native Swift)
Our own route planner and delay prediction model (written in Julia)
We do not expect candidates to be proficient in all of these areas. You can let us know which parts interest you the most. However, a solid understanding of Typescript and Postgres is crucial, combined with a willingness to learn new things.
About us
We are chuuchuu.com, the best train app in Europe. Our goal is to make train travel better, as it is the least polluting form of transport. We track train delays and help users pick the best route. Weโre a small startup based in Antwerp (Belgium) and are looking for our first hire.
We intend to work fully remote with quarterly team gatherings to some European destination. Of course, we expect you to take the train there ๐
About you
You have experience with full-stack work. In other words: you can give examples of features you made that had both a large backend and frontend aspect. Thereโs no need to be a good designer, but we do expect some intuition around good UX.
You know and use your local train network. Apart from development work, everyone in our team is expected to bring a small piece of knowledge about their local train network. We are explicitly hiring from geographically diverse areas with this in mind.
You can take ownership of what you create and understand its value within the larger business context.
You communicate well and often. Bonus points if you had experience with fully remote jobs or communities before.
You are based in Europe.
What we offer
We are currently preparing for our next funding round, which will enable us to officially make this hire. While we don't expect to finalize the hiring process before June, we are opening this conversation early to connect with great candidates and build relationships in advance.
Once funding is secured and we bring you on board, you can expect a competitive salary and stock options, along with the usual benefits of joining an early-stage, fully remote startup: high flexibility, a mission-driven team, and the chance to make a tangible impact on sustainable travel.
Apply
Use the form here on climatebase, attach your CV, a link to previous projects and/or a short introduction about yourself. I'll reach out to you so we can schedule a short intro call.
