Florida State Coordinator

• Identify eligible forests throughout Florida's 67 counties and manage the incorporation of new forests into the Old-Growth Forest Network.
• Recruit, activate, and manage volunteer County Coordinators to promote community engagement and expand the network.
• Plan, publicize, and attend forest dedication events and educational activities.
• Maintain records, communicate with team and supporters, and support fundraising efforts.

This role directly contributes to the protection and recognition of old-growth forests in Florida, ensuring they are preserved for future generations and raising public awareness about their ecological importance.

• Bachelor's degree required; degree in ecology, environmental studies, environmental science, conservation biology, or forestry preferred.
• Experience in environmental nonprofits, government agencies, or academic institutions; outreach/advocacy experience preferred.
• Strong communication, ability to inspire, administrative and technical literacy, basic knowledge of forest ecology, critical thinking, decision-making, and event coordination skills.

Part-time remote position averaging 10 hours per week with a starting rate of $23.50/hr and access to part-time benefits. Opportunity to travel to forests around the state approximately once per month. Position planned for three years with funding secured for the first year.

The Old-Growth Forest Network is a 501c3 non-profit established in 2011, dedicated to connecting people with nature by creating a national network of old-growth forests that will never be logged. They partner with landowners to protect and educate about these forests, with over 345 forests across 41 states.
