Finance & Operations Consultant

The Finance & Operations Consultant will provide support in the following areas:

• Finance: Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and tax requirements including coding time and expenses, reviewing travel/event expenses, processing payments, and tracking taxable income
• Project Operations: Coordinate travel and events, manage consultant and vendor contracts, research costs, negotiate contracts, and conduct after-action reviews
• People Operations: Track professional development funds and PTO, update staff profiles, celebrate staff milestones, and ensure compliance with training and policies

This role supports Change Matrix's consulting work in public health and human services, helping organizations adapt and develop transformative plans for lasting community benefit while ensuring internal operations align with values of justice, equity, and community empowerment.

Required qualifications and experience:

• Alignment with CM's mission and values including commitment to anti-racism and experience collaborating across differences
• 3-5 years of project management experience, preferably in remote, social impact organizations
• Experience with Mac OSX, Microsoft Office, and cloud-based software (ideally ClickUp, bill.com, or AmTrav)
• Detail orientation, customer service mindset, discretion with confidential information, and ability to learn new systems quickly

This is a temporary consultant position without benefits. The hourly rate is $41-$45/hour based on experience. After the temporary period, there may be an opportunity to apply for a permanent staff role with benefits including:
