Mission
What you will drive
Core responsibilities:
- Identify and recruit rural community members in targeted states to participate in research including surveys, focus groups, and one-on-one conversations
- Conduct follow-up conversations with research participants via Zoom, phone, or in person to identify individuals for further participation in UTST's work
- Help recruit participants into focus groups in target rural communities (12-16 groups total, 8-15 participants each)
- Reach out to 100-300 community leaders and research participants, resulting in 10-20 one-on-one conversations and 50-80 shorter phone assessment conversations

This role creates positive change by investigating the attitudes and values of rural Americans to produce actionable findings that help develop effective messaging and strategic organizing in rural communities, ultimately restoring trust in democracy and building the next generation of rural leaders.

What makes you a great fit
Required skills and qualifications:
- Ability to be an active listener who can reflect back what people say and hold information
- Comfortable working with a wide array of stakeholders including elected officials, business owners, faith leaders, and law enforcement professionals in conservative rural communities
- Organized and effective at tracking data, managing relationships, and assessing people's views and motivations
- Able to conduct large numbers of conversations and one-on-one meetings each week (approximately 80% of the job)
