What you will drive
Core responsibilities:
- Oversee three editorial teams in the newsroom: Politics, Policy, and Ideas; Today, Explained and Explain It to Me; and Even Better and Lifestyle
- Shape vision and strategy for Vox's political journalism in 2026 and beyond, centering audiences who feel overlooked or underserved by traditional political coverage
- Direct daily, short-, and long-term editorial plans, managing the balance between original pieces and news-responsive content
- Develop coverage strategies that meet audience members where they are, including newer, politically disengaged, and younger audiences

What makes you a great fit
Required qualifications:
- 10+ years of political journalism experience, including at least 5 years managing editorial teams
- Track record of original, ambitious political or policy journalism that reaches audiences beyond traditional political news consumers
- Strong vision for how political coverage needs to evolve with concrete ideas for Vox's future journalism
- Exceptional editorial judgment and ability to cut through noise with clarity and insight
- Demonstrated success developing talent and cultivating collaborative, inclusive teams

Salary range: $180,000 - $230,000 USD annually. The final salary offered will be based on factors including the candidate's skills and experience.
