How to Apply for Executive Director

at Buddhist Digital Resource Center

🏢 About Buddhist Digital Resource Center

BDRC is the world's leading non-profit dedicated to preserving Tibetan and Buddhist literature through cutting-edge digital technology, maintaining the largest online archive of Buddhist texts globally. What makes BDRC unique is its fusion of deep scholarly expertise with advanced digital preservation techniques, serving both academic researchers and Buddhist communities worldwide. Someone might want to work here to lead an organization at the intersection of cultural heritage preservation, technology, and Buddhist scholarship with global impact.

About This Role

As Executive Director, you'll provide overall leadership and vision for BDRC, guiding strategic priorities while managing programs, technology, collections, and operations to advance the mission of preserving and providing access to Buddhist literature. This role is impactful because you'll directly shape how Buddhist texts are preserved and made accessible globally, while leading fundraising, donor relationships, and representing the organization to its Board, funders, and international partners.

💡 A Day in the Life

A typical day might involve reviewing digitization progress on Tibetan manuscripts, meeting with the technology team about platform improvements, preparing a grant proposal for preservation funding, and corresponding with international Buddhist scholars about collection access. You'd likely balance strategic planning sessions with operational decisions, while cultivating donor relationships and representing BDRC in virtual meetings with global partners across multiple time zones.
