How to Apply for Executive Assistant

at Last Prisoner Project

🏢 About Last Prisoner Project

Last Prisoner Project is a national nonprofit fighting to end cannabis criminalization and repair its harms through prisoner release, retroactive relief, and reentry programming. Working here means being part of a mission-driven team that directly impacts people's lives by advocating for social justice and equity. If you're passionate about criminal justice reform and want to use your administrative skills to support a cause, this is a unique opportunity.

About This Role

As an Executive Assistant, you'll be the backbone of the Executive Director and Legal Program team, managing scheduling, correspondence, and CRM/database organization. Your work will directly enable fundraising logistics and legal advocacy, making you a critical part of the movement to free cannabis prisoners. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on supporting high-impact work behind the scenes.

💡 A Day in the Life

Your day might start by reviewing the Executive Director's calendar and prioritizing meetings, then updating Salesforce with donor interactions. You'll draft correspondence for the legal team, use Asana to track project deadlines, and maybe use ChatGPT to draft a fundraising email. Afternoon could involve preparing a briefing doc for the ED's next meeting and organizing Drive files for an upcoming campaign.

🎯 Who Last Prisoner Project Is Looking For

  • A proactive self-starter with 3–4+ years of administrative or EA experience, or a bachelor's degree with a strong initiative to learn on the job.
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable with Google Workspace, Salesforce, Asana, and Slack—or able to quickly pick up new tools.
  • Skilled in written communication, able to draft clear emails and documents for donors, partners, and legal teams.
  • Excited to use AI tools like ChatGPT for drafting, research, and data organization to streamline workflows.
