Energy Modeling Engineer

• Build and refine data models and algorithms to drive decision-making for energy upgrades and electrification
• Collaborate with product, data science, and engineering leads to deliver insights that previously took weeks—in seconds
• Work across our platform, with a primary focus on the "Maiven Intelligence" layer: modeling, simulations, analytics, and logic
• Dive into new methodologies and energy modeling paradigms—question assumptions, move fast, and iterate often
• Leverage large structured and unstructured datasets, including AMI data and historical utility program insights

This role creates positive change by developing software that helps utilities, governments, and energy program implementers make smarter decisions to reduce energy costs and carbon footprints for residents, especially in underserved communities.

• 4–10 years of experience building and shipping production-grade software that supports and/or solves critical energy industry modeling, measuring, and/or implementation initiatives
• Strong Python and data engineering background (Pandas, ETL, SQL, APIs, data modeling); comfortable working at the intersection of data science and software engineering
• Experience with AWS, especially Lambda, S3, Athena, SageMaker, and related services
• Working knowledge of TypeScript, NestJS, and React
• Well versed and very comfortable with AMI data, energy models, and adjacent domains (building science, HVAC, load curves, DERs) is strongly preferred
• Strong preference for candidates with startup experience; former founders highly favored
