Energy Analyst/Senior Energy Analyst

Core responsibilities:

• Provide modeling and analysis for Ascend's clients including utilities, developers, IPPs, large energy consumers, and government agencies
• Perform quantitative analysis combining technical considerations, economic factors, market rules, and regulatory/policy developments
• Synthesize complex information into understandable reports, visualizations, and presentations
• Leverage analytical tools using Excel, Python, or R for analysis

This role contributes to understanding the energy transition, shaping a cleaner and more cost-effective energy supply, and making an impact through energy analytics that transform the electric grid.

Required qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as economics or engineering with evidence of strong academic performance (master's or advanced degree preferred)
• 2+ years of prior work experience (5+ years for Senior Analyst) in energy with a utility, consulting firm, government, or non-profit with focus on energy
• Strong quantitative analytical skills, including use of Excel and existing knowledge or ability to learn basics of coding in software packages such as SAS, Python or R
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong interpersonal and teamwork abilities

Compensation: $80,000 - $95,000 for Energy Analyst; $95,000 - $125,000 for Senior Analyst (negotiable based on qualifications and experience). Ascend often pays above industry average.
