Mission

What you will drive

Core responsibilities:

  • Provide employment-related advice and counseling to nonprofit organizational clients working on civil rights, environmental protection, immigrant rights, democracy, accountability, and other social and economic justice issues
  • Provide legal representation on employment law matters, including advising clients about legal obligations, crafting strategies for handling complicated employee matters, drafting employment-related materials, and reviewing personnel policies and handbooks
  • Provide legal advice in other areas of nonprofit organization operations, such as structural and governance issues, contractual relationships, non-discrimination obligations, program spin-offs, and member codes of conduct

Profile

What makes you a great fit

Required qualifications:

  • Seven or more years of employment and/or labor law experience, preferably including counseling and advice experience
  • Experience with a broad range of employment law topics including anti-discrimination, anti-harassment, wage and hour, family and medical leave, employment contracts, and discipline/separations
  • Strong academic credentials, excellent writing and communication skills, sound judgment, and ability to handle complicated matters with minimal supervision
  • Member of or eligible for admission to the DC Bar
