Mission

What you will drive

Core responsibilities:

  • Contribute to research projects related to the work programme of SSWA for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
  • Regular monitoring of relevant developments, policy trends and news articles related to the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and the SDGs in the subregion
  • Collect data, generate figures and tables, describe and analyze results to support ESCAP-SSWA staff in research and analytical work
  • Provide administrative, organizational and conference management support for ESCAP-SSWA events

What makes you a great fit

Required qualifications and skills:

  • Enrolled in or completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) OR enrolled in or completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent)
  • Computer literate in standard software applications
  • Familiarity with econometrics and empirical data analysis methods and relevant software packages (e.g., EViews, Stata, SPSS, R and Python) or IT tools is desirable
  • Data handling skills and skills in using spreadsheets, Excel is an asset

This is an UNPAID internship. The internship is full-time (37.5 hours per week, five days per week) with a duration of 3 to 6 months. Interns work from the office in New Delhi under supervision and gain learning opportunities about socio-economic challenges, regional cooperation processes, and UN operations in developing countries.

The Subregional Office for South and South-West Asia (ESCAP-SSWA) supports ten member States in implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development through analytical work, policy support, technical assistance, and capacity building.
