Ecologists, Naturalists, and Taxonomic Experts for Sumatra, Indonesia (remote / flexible / part-time role)

• Identification of species from lowland Sumatra, Indonesia through high-resolution images (plants and/or mammals) or acoustic data (birds, bats, and/or frogs) shared online.
• Support the design of biodiversity surveys and help train machine learning models by annotating image and/or acoustic data.
• Provide feedback on data collection methods to improve automated identification using machine learning.

Your expertise will help protect nature by providing robust evidence, and together, you will build the most detailed set of annotated, species-level biodiversity data ever compiled.

• Expertise in identifying birds, bats, or frogs from acoustic data, or plants or mammals from high-resolution images.
• Ability to add species labels to audio or image files to name the species present.
• Experience or knowledge in ecology, naturalism, or taxonomy, particularly related to lowland Sumatra, Indonesia.

This is a paid role with project-based work ranging from 5-40 hours per week based on availability. An hourly rate of pay will be agreed upon that best suits your needs and experience. The role is remote and can be done online from anywhere, at any time.
