Diverse Voices in Science Journalism Intern
About the Role
The Diverse Voices in Science Journalism Intern will work closely with the Science Journalism Program team to support the development and implementation of programs and initiatives that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in science journalism. The intern will assist with research, outreach, and event planning, and will have the opportunity to work with a diverse group of scientists, journalists, and educators.
Responsibilities
- Assist with research and outreach to identify and engage diverse voices in science journalism
- Help plan and execute events, workshops, and other programs that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion in science journalism
- Assist with social media management and content creation
- Conduct research and analysis on topics related to diversity, equity, and inclusion in science journalism
- Collaborate with the Science Journalism Program team to develop and implement programs and initiatives
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in a degree-granting program in journalism, communications, or a related field
- Strong research and writing skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Familiarity with social media platforms and content creation
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in science journalism or a related field
- Familiarity with diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives
- Knowledge of science communication principles and practices
- Experience with event planning and execution
