Distributed Organizing Director

Core responsibilities:

• Recruit and manage volunteers in Climate Defiance chapters across key U.S. cities
• Establish new Climate Defiance chapters and provide ongoing coaching to volunteers and leaders
• Organize and coordinate direct actions in multiple cities, including nonviolent protests and disruptive actions
• Travel to cities for site visits and actions (25% travel expected) and handle administrative tracking of volunteer activities

This role creates positive change by building grassroots pressure on political leaders and corporate executives to elevate climate change as a top political issue, helping to stop fossil fuel expansion and hold decision-makers accountable.

Required qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of organizing or campaigning experience with volunteer team management
• Experience participating in or leading nonviolent direct actions (protests, strikes, sit-ins, blockades)
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively as a self-starter
• Flexibility for travel and readiness for actions and site visits

Compensation and perks:

• Salary: $62,400 annually
• Unlimited vacation time (with 20 days plus Christmas week encouraged)
