Distributed Organizing Director (candidates can be based anywhere in the US)

Core responsibilities:

• Recruit and manage volunteers in Climate Defiance chapters across key U.S. cities
• Establish new Climate Defiance chapters and provide ongoing coaching to volunteers and leaders
• Organize and coordinate direct actions in multiple cities, including travel for site visits and actions
• Handle administrative tasks such as tracking volunteer outreach and turnout

This role helps elevate climate change as a top political issue in the US through direct actions and grassroots pressure, contributing to holding decision makers accountable and achieving tangible results like halting drilling and pausing fracked gas exports.

Required qualifications:

• Minimum two years of organizing or campaigning experience
• Experience managing teams of volunteers
• Participation in or leadership of nonviolent direct actions (creative protests, strikes, sit-ins, blockades)
• Strong communication skills and flexibility for travel (25% expected)

Salary: $62,400 annually with additional benefits including unlimited vacation time (with 20 days plus Christmas week encouraged), group health care, and a 401(k) with a 3% employer contribution.
