Distributed Organizing Director (candidates can be based anywhere in the US)

Core responsibilities:

• Recruit and manage volunteers in Climate Defiance chapters across key U.S. cities
• Establish new Climate Defiance chapters and provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to volunteers and leaders
• Organize and coordinate direct actions in multiple cities, including running group and individual trainings
• Travel to cities for site visits and actions (25% time expected on the road)

This role creates positive change by building and guiding volunteer-led chapters across the country to elevate climate change as a top political issue through direct actions and grassroots pressure, helping to stop the fossil-fueled oligarchy and move the needle on climate change.

Required skills and qualifications:

• Minimum of two years of organizing or campaigning experience
• Experience managing teams of volunteers and participating in/leading nonviolent direct actions
• Strong communication skills and flexibility for actions and site visits
• Distributed organizing experience (preferred) and alignment with principles of nonviolent confrontation

Compensation and perks:

• Salary: $62,400
