Position : Director of Marketing & Communications Reports to : Chief Executive Officer Location: Works remotely Hours required: 40 hours per week Travel: Travel required and will be reimbursed Pay: Salary, Exempt Salary Range: $65,000 to $75,000 wear blue: run to remember is a not-for-profit that honors the service and sacrifice of the American military through active remembrance. We build community through meaningful events, shared stories, and consistent acts of remembrance that bring people together. The Opportunity: This role is designed for a strong marketing and communications professional who is ready to step into broader leadership. Youโ€™ll own end-to-end marketing and communications, partner closely with the CEO, and shape how wear blue shows up nationwide through our messaging, campaigns, events, and partnerships. Responsibilities: Lead an integrated marketing and communications strategy aligned to wear blue โ€™s strategic plan, spanning brand, digital, social media, media relations, and partner communications. Develop annual and campaign plans grounded in audience insights and research, including messaging, content calendars, timelines, and promotional materials. Ensure consistent brand standards and messaging across all channels, programs, and stakeholders (staff, chapters, volunteers, partners). Lead content development and channel execution across web, email, social, and campaign communications to grow awareness and engagement. Manage media relations and executive communications, including spokesperson support and drafting public-facing remarks, talking points, and statements. Partner cross-functionally to support events, campaigns, and partner communications, including representing wear blue at key meetings and events. Lead and coordinate employees, contractors, and volunteers supporting marketing and communications by setting priorities, coaching, and driving accountability. Manage the marketing and communications budget, track performance, provide recommendations, and report outcomes and wins to leadership. Other duties as assigned. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: Strong alignment with the wear blue mission and support for the American military community. Bachelorโ€™s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, English, Journalism, Business, Advertising) or equivalent experience. 3โ€“5 years of relevant marketing and/or communications experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience). Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences. Demonstrated project management and organizational skills. Comfort using basic performance data to optimize and report results (web, email, social). Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a remote environment. Willingness to occasionally work evenings, holidays, and weekends as needed. Willingness to travel as required. Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Experience: Nonprofit experience. Military service or affiliation, or experience working with military-connected communities. Familiarity of web publishing technologies, digital marketing tools, online media applications, analytics platforms, and social media channels.
