Director of Development

Core responsibilities:

• Develop and execute comprehensive fundraising strategies, including annual and multi-year targets for restricted and unrestricted revenue
• Build and maintain strong relationships with donors, philanthropic partners, and collaborators to advance stewardship and strategic partnerships
• Oversee the grant lifecycle (application to compliance) and establish robust systems for donor data, proposals, and reporting
• Lead the Development department by managing budget, building and mentoring team, and fostering a culture of shared success

This role creates positive change by generating funding for scientific research that brings science to energy policy, helping to create energy and climate solutions that protect public health and the environment.

Required qualifications:

• Minimum 7 years of progressive experience in fundraising and development, including 5+ years in leadership/supervisory role
• Proven track record of developing fundraising strategies and securing $5M+ annually from diverse sources
• Strong expertise in grant lifecycle management, proposal development, donor cultivation, and compliance
• Proficiency with Salesforce or similar CRM systems for data management and strategic decision-making
• Bachelor's degree in Nonprofit Management, Business Administration, Communications or related field
