Mission
What you will drive
The Director, Litigation will lead and execute the Legal Department's litigation work at NILC, focusing on protecting the rights of low-income immigrant communities through impact litigation and legal advocacy.
- Collaborate with leadership to develop and execute strategic litigation strategies that integrate with narrative change, movement power building, and campaign strategies
- Lead litigation teams in preparing pleadings, motions, briefs, conducting discovery, presenting oral arguments, and handling trials and appeals
- Strategically oversee and advance client-driven, community-grounded impact litigation in combination with policy advocacy, communications, and movement building
- Supervise, support, and mentor legal staff in the identification, development, and litigation of complex civil cases in federal and state courts

Profile
What makes you a great fit
Required qualifications and experience for this litigation leadership role:
- Juris Doctor from an accredited school and active member in good standing with a State Bar
- At least 10 years of combined experience in litigation at a nonprofit, social justice organization or law firm with substantial federal court and appellate practice experience
- 4+ years of leadership/management experience including legal supervision, case development, and project management
- Demonstrated experience in immigration, education, healthcare, labor/employment, and/or civil rights law with excellent skills and innovative strategies
