Director, Finance

Core responsibilities:

• Oversee financial and grant-related activities for the Development Innovation Lab, including financial management, compliance with university and external funding regulations, and life-cycle management of grants, gifts, and internal funds.
• Lead budgeting processes, provide financial analysis and strategic guidance to leadership, and manage a team of professional staff responsible for project-level budgets and financial reporting.
• Serve as a key liaison between DIL and central university offices, ensuring alignment on financial reporting, budget processes, and policy compliance, and prepare financial reports for the University and donors.
• Develop and implement financial policies and procedures, conduct staff trainings, and oversee payroll allocations, time tracking, and procurement to ensure efficient use of funds and compliance with requirements.

This role supports the Development Innovation Lab's mission to develop innovations benefiting millions in low- and middle-income countries by ensuring efficient financial management and compliance, enabling the Lab to focus on impactful research and projects.

Required skills, experience, qualifications:

• Minimum of a college or university degree in a related field and 7+ years of work experience in a related job discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in operations, grant administration, finance, or related fields, with budget planning, forecasting, financial operations, and fiscal reporting skills.
• High-level proficiency with spreadsheets, computer applications such as Word and Excel, and familiarity with financial and accounting systems like Workday or Oracle/Peoplesoft.
• Demonstrated leadership skills, experience managing multiple direct reports, exceptional organizational and communication skills, and ability to work in a complex research environment.
