Mission

What you will drive

  • Lead and coordinate annual external financial statement audits for Environmental Defense Fund and Environmental Defense Action Fund, including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation.
  • Direct program-specific audits and monitoring activities related to government grants, contracts, and restricted funding sources, ensuring compliance with Uniform Guidance.
  • Manage preparation, review, and filing of IRS Form 990, including comprehensive supporting workpapers and documentation.
  • Evaluate and strengthen internal controls, financial policies, and compliance procedures, conducting risk assessments and recommending process improvements.

Profile

What makes you a great fit

  • 7-10 years of progressive accounting, audit, and non-profit compliance experience, with experience in a large nonprofit with complex funding structures.
  • CPA required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Deep knowledge of US GAAP, internal controls, regulatory requirements, and nonprofit accounting standards.
  • Significant experience managing nonprofit external audits and IRS Form 990 filings, as well as federal and state grant compliance and program audits.
