How to Apply for Director, District Partnerships & Growth

at New Tech Network

🏢 About New Tech Network

New Tech Network is a national nonprofit that has spent nearly three decades transforming schools through project-based learning, aiming to create deeper and more equitable educational experiences. Working here means joining a mission-driven team that partners with districts to make learning relevant and engaging, with a strong emphasis on student voice and real-world skills.

About This Role

This role is a revenue-generating position within the Growth and District Success team, focusing on both winning new district partnerships and retaining/expanding existing ones. As a Director, you'll be the face of NTN to district leaders, driving growth that directly expands access to innovative, project-based learning for students across the country.

💡 A Day in the Life

A typical day might involve a mix of virtual meetings with district leaders to discuss their needs, crafting proposals or presentations, and following up on leads. You might also be on the road visiting potential or existing partners, attending conferences, or hosting learning events to generate interest. Between meetings, you'd spend time updating your CRM, researching districts, and collaborating with the GDS team to ensure a seamless partnership experience.

🎯 Who New Tech Network Is Looking For

  • Proven track record in consultative sales or business development, ideally in education or a mission-driven organization, with experience selling to school districts or other public sector entities.
  • Deep understanding of the K-12 education landscape, including district decision-making processes, funding, and the challenges facing superintendents and school leaders.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and communication skills, able to engage and inspire a range of stakeholders from superintendents to principals, and to manage complex, long sales cycles.
  • Self-motivated and results-oriented, with experience managing a revenue pipeline, forecasting, and meeting ambitious targets in a remote work environment.

📝 Tips for Applying to New Tech Network

1

Tailor your resume to highlight revenue achievements and specific examples of how you've grown partnerships or accounts, using metrics and outcomes.

2

In your cover letter, explicitly connect your passion for education to NTN's mission of deeper learning and equity, and demonstrate that you understand the nonprofit's work.

3

Research NTN's current district partners and case studies, and mention a specific example of their impact in your application to show genuine interest.

4

Highlight any experience you have working with educational leaders or in the education sector, even if it's not direct sales, to show you understand the context.

5

Since travel is required, mention your willingness and ability to travel up to 50% and provide examples of how you've successfully managed remote work and travel in the past.

✉️ What to Emphasize in Your Cover Letter

["Emphasize your alignment with NTN's mission and your passion for transforming education through project-based learning.", 'Showcase your consultative sales approach and how you build long-term partnerships, not just closing deals.', "Provide concrete examples of how you've navigated complex sales cycles and worked with multiple stakeholders in education or similar sectors.", 'Mention your ability to work independently and manage a pipeline in a remote environment, with a proven track record of meeting revenue targets.']
