How to Apply for Development Officer, Foundations
at RMI
🏢 About RMI
RMI is a global nonprofit dedicated to transforming the world's energy systems, with an ambitious goal of achieving a clean, zero-carbon future by 2030. Working here means being at the forefront of climate action, collaborating with experts across sectors to drive systemic change. The organization's remote-first culture offers flexibility while tackling one of the most pressing challenges of our time.
About This Role
As a Development Officer for Foundations, you'll manage a portfolio of foundation donors, strategically engaging them to secure 5-6 figure gifts. You'll work closely with program staff to craft compelling cases for support, directly fueling RMI's mission-critical energy transition projects. This role is impactful because you'll be the bridge between philanthropic capital and the innovative solutions needed to combat climate change.
💡 A Day in the Life
A typical day might involve reviewing foundation prospect research, drafting a tailored proposal for a climate-aligned funder, and meeting with program leads to align funding needs with donor interests. You could also be scheduling a virtual cultivation call with a foundation officer or updating your donor tracking system with next steps. The day is a mix of strategic planning, collaborative meetings, and persuasive writing—all from your home office.
