Development and Communications Assistant

Core responsibilities:

• Assist with donor research, data entry, and donor database maintenance
• Draft donor communications, including thank-you letters, newsletters, e-mail updates, and programmatic materials
• Support the creation of content for e-mail and social media campaigns, and our website
• Help prepare materials and logistics for fundraising events, webinars, and community outreach initiatives

This role supports fundraising and communications strategies that help prevent and alleviate harms caused by wrongful convictions, working toward a world where all individuals, families, and communities harmed by wrongful convictions have holistic pathways to healing.

Required skills and qualifications:

• Passion for Healing Justice's mission and a strong interest in social justice, nonprofit development, or communications
• Strong research capabilities and excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines and work remotely
• Proficiency in Google Workspace preferred, experience with or willingness to learn donor databases, CRMs, or email marketing tools

Compensation: $12-$15/hour depending on experience (part-time, up to 15 hours per week). School credit is also available. Healing Justice is closed the week of Christmas through January 1, and we anticipate at least a two-week break during the summer for this position.

Healing Justice works to prevent and alleviate the harms caused to all by wrongful convictions through advocacy, education, and direct support, aiming to break cycles of harm perpetuated by historical inequities and create lasting change within the criminal legal system.
