Design Lead

Core responsibilities:

• Develop and deliver engineering solutions from feasibility to detailed engineering design for Transmission networks projects (132kV, 275kV & 400kV)
• Lead and manage a group of professional Design and Senior Design Engineers, providing advice on pre-contract design and project delivery
• Oversee and undertake basic and detailed engineering specifications and designs for OHL systems, ensuring compliance with legislation and operational requirements
• Provide technical assessments of tender submissions and make recommendations, supporting Project Development and Project Delivery teams

This role supports the rapid growth needed in renewable energy by investing in transmission infrastructure, directly contributing to Scotland's ambition to be Net Zero by 2044 and helping fight climate change through clean energy transition.

Required qualifications and skills:

• Degree qualified in Engineering discipline or equivalent experience, working towards membership of a professional institution
• Significant experience in Transmission network overhead line and associated equipment engineering in a responsible position
• Experienced in using PLS-CADD software
• Good interpersonal and communication skills with ability to form effective working relationships and implement CDM and Health & Safety best practices
