Contract Attorney -- Solar & Energy (Temporary)

• Independently draft, analyze, review, revise, and negotiate procurement contracts, OEM/white label agreements, distributor agreements, and other commercial contracts in the solar energy sector.
• Provide legal analysis and advice on business decisions, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations including antitrust, energy, and federal procurement.
• Serve as a key point of contact coordinating with contract management, procurement, engineering, sales, finance, and senior management.
• Manage claims and other legal matters, including risk analysis and dispute resolution, under the direction of the General Counsel.

This role directly supports the expansion of solar energy by ensuring legal compliance and risk management in procurement and distribution contracts, enabling SMA America to deliver innovative clean energy solutions efficiently and ethically.

• Juris Doctor (JD) and active bar membership in good standing in a U.S. jurisdiction.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in procurement contracts, preferably in solar energy; or experience with technology OEM/white label agreements representing the reseller or buyer.
• Minimum 10 years of experience with distributor agreements in the energy sector, including antitrust experience arising from distributor relationships, preferably representing the seller.
• Knowledge of antitrust law, energy and federal procurement regulations, and risks in EPC/infrastructure contracting.

• Pay rate: $140 – $160/hr (negotiable based on experience).
• Flexible, part-time remote engagement: 20 – 30 hours per week.
• Engagement duration: 3 months minimum, up to 9 – 10 months.
• Fully remote position for U.S.-based candidates.
